Seen, Heard, Said

Being an organic skincare company means that we hear a lot about recent developments on the organic front as well as the odd fact or two. Most of this information comes to us through customers and others in the industry. Here are some of the things we’ve heard lately:

Whole Foods to buy Wild Oats. Both stores focus on organic and natural foods and products, providing a needed service in the marketplace. This move will add 110 stores to Whole Foods existing 190. The deal is set to close in April.

Cotton Caution. Cotton crops use about about 25% of the world’s insecticides and more then 10% of the pesticides. When we started thinking about the various uses of cottons – baby blankets, t-shirts, toilet paper, tampons – we were a little taken back by the amount of chemicals used. Thankfully it is easier and easier to find organic cotton products.

Farmers markets have a universal appeal but they are not always the easiest to find, especially in big cities. Here’s a website to help locate a farmers market near you http://www.localharvest.org

Erbaviva, Always Been Organic.....Now USDA Certified Organic

We did it! We at Erbaviva are so proud to announce that we are now certified USDA organic. To carry the USDA seal means that the certified organic content of a product must be 95% or more. Since inception, Erbaviva’s organic integrity has always met or exceeded these guidelines on almost every product, having the paperwork in hand is an added vote of confidence.

We believe that what you put in and on your body greatly affects not only your health but the well-being of the earth as well. Social responsibility and efforts at sustainability are no longer options but necessities. As we learn more about pesticides, chemicals, and farming practices that are not-eco friendly, the more important it becomes to find viable alternatives. Choosing organic is choosing a better, healthier future.
