Featured Ingredient: Lavender

Throughout the centuries, people have been drawn to the herb lavender. There is documentation of lavender being used as far back as 2,500 years ago by the Egyptians in their perfumes and other applications. The Romans continued to expand it’s usage into body oils and washes. English royalty and American shakers alike used this herb in abundance. So many people, across so much time and space have all heralded lavender as their herb or choice, but why?

There are many reasons for its overwhelming popularity. One of the most basic is its sweet scent. The distinct aroma of lavender has been captured in both poetic verse and love songs. For many of us, one gentle waft of lavender will transport us to a time in which we were utterly at peace and happy.

Lavender’s lovely aroma is not its only attraction. It has been used as an herbal remedy for thousands of years. From producing a sense of calm, to alleviating depression and even ridding one of headaches, lavender really is one amazing herb.

Whatever the reason may be (and there are many), one thing is for sure – we all love lavender!
